GreenFiber® INSULATED HOME WINS PRESTIGIOUS ENERGYVALUE HOUSING AWARD

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – April 14, 2003 – The National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Research Center recently honored a GreenFiber-insulated home with its Gold Award for Hot Climate Production Home at the 2003 International Builders Show in Las Vegas, Nev. Recipients of this elite honor demonstrate a commitment to building and marketing energy-efficient homes within their communities. The winning home, built by Ryland Homes’ Central Texas Division, is located in San Antonio, Texas, and is insulated with R-20 Cocoon2™ in its walls and has utilized several other energy-efficient technologies in its construction.

GreenFiber, manufactured by GreenFiber, is a high-quality, paper fiber insulation designed to conserve energy and improve interior thermal comfort in residential and light commercial applications. The product’s density gives it a high R-value rating, and when applied, fills tiny cavities and surrounds obstructions where energy often escapes, reducing air infiltration and resulting drafts. In addition to insulating walls of new homes, GreenFiber can also be installed in attics, floors, ceilings and other enclosed spaces of both new construction and for use in retrofit applications.

“We’re thrilled, but not surprised, that this division of Ryland Homes won this prestigious award,” said Bruce Harned, vice president of sales and marketing for GreenFiber. “The home building industry is embracing the use of GreenFiber as a superior form of insulation and discovering its many features and benefits.”

Ryland Homes’ Central Texas Division was also awarded Builder of the Year, the Research Center’s highest honor, by demonstrating its commitment to customer satisfaction in the adoption of stringent energy efficiency standards and environmentally responsible construction. Under its HouseWorks program, Ryland offers a two-year guarantee that home heating and cooling will require less than 274 therms and 4,719 kWh per year – for an estimated average monthly cost of $54. GreenFiber Cocoon Insulation helps to assure that these homes meet Ryland’s guarantee, providing a valuable addition to the HouseWorks program.
