Wooster's New Middle School benefits the environment as well as young minds
When the Wooster School Board approved Insul-Tec’s proposal to use GreenFiber’s GreenFiber Cocoon Insulation in the construction of their new Middle School, they were not only promoting the improvement of young minds, but stewardship of the environment as well.
The Middle School will be a new 17,000 square foot, two-story facility that will house 120 students and is scheduled for completion by summer of 2004. Kevin McCarthy, the insulation contractor and owner of Insul-Tec Systems in Danbury, Connecticut, is a passionate proponent of GreenFiber® cellulose insulation, and his proposal fit right in with Wooster’s philosophy of self-help and giving back to the community.
GreenFiber Cocoon Insulation consists of an earth-friendly 85 percent recycled material (including newspaper). McCarthy also emphasized GreenFiber’s .90 NRC (noise reduction coefficient) sound performance and Class-1 fire rating. The cellulose product will be used in the attic and exterior walls to promote thermal comfort and in the internal walls to cut down on the transmission of sound. All of GreenFiber’s features fit right in with the school’s tradition of providing a safe, comfortable place for students to improve their minds and as Insul-Tec’s McCarthy passionately professes, "We can benefit the students and the environment at the same time."
