GreenFiber Acquires Bonded Insulation
Acquired Company to Manufacture and Distribute in the Northeast and Eastern Canada
CHARLOTTE, NC — July 13, 2005 — GreenFiber, LLC announced today the acquisition of Bonded Insulation in Hagaman, NY (just outside Albany). This acquisition provides GreenFiber a manufacturing and distribution presence in the Northeast to better serve existing customers and continue to grow new customer business in the region as well as in Eastern Canada. Bonded's business has historically focused on the contractor and retrofit markets and their products and service reputation are excellent.
GreenFiber has had a long business relationship with Bonded, as they have been a toll-manufacturing partner for the past few years. Ed Power and Kurt Chittenden, Bonded's former owners, are excellent leaders who share the same values as GreenFiber. They are an excellent fit into the organization and both will continue to work as GreenFiber employees.
Bonded’s Hagaman, NY plant brings the total number of manufacturing plants to 12, 11 insulation plants and one Scott's Patch Master Plant. Other GreenFiber Cocoon Insulation plants are located in Charlotte, N.C., Delphos, Ohio, Denver, Colo., Elkwood, Va., Lithia Springs, Ga., Norfolk, Neb., Phoenix, Ariz., Sacramento, Calif., Tampa, Fla. and Waco, Texas. The Scott’s plant is located in Elkwood, Va.
Established in 2000, GreenFiber LLC is a quality-conscious provider of GreenFiber Cocoon Insulation, fire and sound products. GreenFiber is sold through major home centers, building supply retailers and lumberyards in the US and Canada to the do-it-yourself and contractor customer. GreenFiber’s products are also sold through a national sales force to residential and commercial contractors as well as to the manufactured housing industry. The company, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, is a 50/50 joint venture of Louisiana-Pacific (NYSE:LPX) and Casella Waste Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CWST). GreenFiber has the capacity to turn what has previously been an environmentally-friendly "specialty" product into a major competitor in the building products industry.
